Welcome to Day 18 of the Crafting Your Content Marketing Strategy Challenge!

The very best way for any business to please their customers is to simply give their customers what they want, where they want it, in the form they want it. It’s so much harder to convince someone they need what you are offering than it is to just offer to them what they want. Therefore, you need to create content that impacts your ideal audience and share it where they like to hang out on social media. Check out these strategies.

Strategy #1 Know Which Platforms to Use

There are so many social media platforms that are very effective, but you only need to use the ones that are most likely to attract your ideal audience. It’s important to look at the demographic information about the audiences that use each platform before going all in.

Strategy #2 Use Compelling and Vibrant Imagery

Social media is a visual medium for the most part, whether it’s Facebook, Twitter, or the more obvious Instagram and Pinterest. Thankfully, it’s not hard to take or find great images for your posts today.

Strategy #3 Create Headlines That Grab Attention

No one likes to be tricked into clicking, so always create headlines that grab attention but that are straight forward and honest about what’s behind the image.

Strategy #4 Customize Your Posts for Each Platform

Don’t just create one post for all social platforms and adjust the images. Instead, consider the personality of each platform and personalize the post for each that you use with a new headline, new images, and new excerpts from the main content you’re sharing.

Strategy #5 Know the Right Times to Share

Your audience will be more likely to view your content at specific times on each platform. You’ll have to do some testing, but each platform will often have information for you that helps guide you about times, so you have a place to begin.

Strategy #6 Share More Than Once

Sharing the content you worked hard on developing is an important component of content marketing. Don’t share each piece just once. You may need to share it more than once per day plus continuously. For evergreen content, you can set up automation using software like Hootsuite.com.

Strategy #7 Ask Questions to Grab Attention

When you are sharing content with people on social media, don’t make it a one direction experience. Instead, ask questions related to the content to start a discussion then participate in the discussion too.

Strategy #8 Engage with Your Audience

Always find ways to engage personally with your audience each day. You can set a timer so that you don’t waste too much time – forcing you to engage with purpose.

Strategy #9 Pay for Advertisements

While content marketing is very effective without paying for ads, you can speed up your progress by paying for advertising. Do make sure you have everything else in place before spending money on ads and try to get some advice from an expert before wasting your money.

Strategy #10 Leverage Communities

Not only should you use other people’s communities to talk to and engage with and share your content (within their rules) but you should also create and build your own niche communities using the tools in place on social media sites as well as through installing forum and membership software to turn your website into a community.

Strategy #11 Find Several Influencers to Work With

Don’t think that you must find influencers who have a million or even 100,000 followers to be successful. You can work with five to ten influencers with smaller audiences of 10K or more and roll out quite the grand opening for any of your products or services.

Strategy #12 Study Your Data

When you set up goals, you’ll have metrics to check. This data is very important to your success. If you cannot make a connection between actions and impact using data, you could end up working harder than you need to.

Strategy #13 Repeat What Works; Stop What Doesn’t

Using the analytics, you can determine which actions you take that will work for your needs. Then you can repeat what works, stop what doesn’t, and have more room to try more.

Social media can’t be skipped if you want to succeed in content marketing today. It’s the way you will spread your message to your audience. It’s the way you’ll engage with your audience. It’s how you’re going to study your audience too. It’s essential to your content marketing efforts and success.
