As you know from our previous lesson promoting affiliate products can be a great way to earn a steady income on your blog. For today’s lesson I wanted you to take your affiliate marketing efforts a step further and have you venture out from just promoting amazon products. But you may still be confused as to which types of products to sign up for in order to gain the most profit. It’s always good to choose products you’d actually use and recommend. You want to maintain a professional image of integrity with your readers. Losing their trust can be devastating to your business and reputation.
I wanted to use my own blog as an example of the types of products you could potentially promote on your website. My blog is all about helping aspiring online entrepreneurs learn more about website basics and even marketing strategies so you can grow your digital hustle into a real, thriving career. Knowing this I knew that my readers wanted to know about tools that they would need to run their website or blog. I knew that my readers were interested in using WordPress to run a self-hosted site so they wanted to know what web hosting I was using. Plus, they liked my website and wanted to know theme I was using so I naturally it made sense to promote that to my readers as well.
Which Affiliate Programs Are The Most Lucrative?
It is common knowledge that Web hosting programs tend to be some of the most lucrative around. They offer high commissions on sales, often starting at $50 and increasing up to $200 per sale when you promote numerous referrals per month. These can truly add up. No matter what type of site you run or what your main topic may be, you can find ways to become an affiliate for these types of services.
However, be sure to do your research, as you don’t want to promote a company that has a questionable reputation. This will reflect poorly on you and isn’t worth the risk. I’ve seen this hundreds of times where bloggers promote hosting just because of their commision and not taking into consideration the terrible product they are promoting. What Other Affiliate Programs Can You Sign Up For?
There are literally thousands of products you can promote but my recommendation is to promote the products that your readers are asking for or that they need. For example, probably the most common question I get asked is what theme am I using for my website? The answer is Divi and it is one of the few themes I actually recommend. You can recommend your own theme to your readers and give a full review of the pros and cons of your theme. I love divi for the customability of it. Whether you are in need a full website or want a single blog template update Divi gives you a framework for web designers and non-professionals alike to build sites relatively easily.
I recommend using a theme that has the option of using templates. My preferred choice is Divi because it allows you to easily import any template whether from the free template library or you purchase a separate template from a third-party for the theme. A professional template is a game-changer for any blogger because it allows them to choose a design that fits their aesthetic, along with options to meet their site’s specific needs. It also allows you to change up the design of your blog as your site grows.
Other recomendations could be the plugins you use on your WordPress website. The platform itself has thousand of plugins that you can review and potentially gain commisions from so never leave that option on the table. You can find my own recomendations here.
In conclusion, if you choose your affiliate programs wisely you can potentially earn hefty commissions. The second part to that is having the right promotion strategy.
Final Thoughts

You need to decide what products best fits the needs of your audience. For me I knew that choosing a web host or WordPress theme can be complicated and overwhelming. That’s why promoting them and breaking them down for my readers their benefits has earned me decent profits. Once you find an affiliate product that you’re happy with, signing up for their affiliate program can be a way to help others and make money for yourself.
You can work your affiliate into your content in a number of easy and seamless ways. A simple post outlining why you use each and what it offers you is a good start. You can also add links throughout your website such as to your footer, resource pages and even to your about page. Get creative. Just be honest and transparent in order to maintain your credibility with readers.
Keep these tips in mind when considering whether to sign up for affiliate programs. It’s definitely worth considering more that just your standard affiliate programs. Your goal is to find affiliate products that not only appeal to your readers but will gain you a hefty commission as well.
