Your blog offers a number of ways to promote your products or services and to generate sales. An often-overlooked money-generating area is in the blog comments. Yes, it’s true. You can use the comment section on your blog or even in other online properties like forums and competitors’ blogs to boost sales. Look at my best tips for using blog comments as a place to make sales.

 

Tip #1 Make Recommendations

Your blog comments or even forums are a great place to answer questions. Providing credible and helpful information sets you up as an expert and gives people confidence in your knowledge. You can even provide product or service recommendations in these comments that lead to direct or affiliate sales. It’s important, though, to come from a place of providing value. Don’t just drop a link in hopes of making a sale.

 

Tip #2 Use a Standard Signature

Adding a signature to comments you make on other people’s blogs or online forums can help provide name recognition for yourself and motivate people to check out what you have to offer. When you leave a comment, be sure to include your name and the name of your book, product or service. If people like what you have to say, they may just decide to visit your blog or look for your product.

 

Tip #3 Write a Call to Action

You know that CTAs sell. So, why not use them in your blog comments? When responding to a comment, don’t hesitate to tell the reader what it is you think they should do. That might be to check out your information product for more information or to consider buying a recommended affiliate product to ease their pain. As long as you’re providing something useful, there’s a good chance a sale might come of your efforts.

 

Tip #4 Reference Your Products

You’ve worked hard on your eBooks, white papers, and other digital products. You should be proud of them. Don’t hesitate to promote these items and share them whenever possible. Your own blog comment section is the perfect place to do that. Be sure to provide some helpful information or tip. Then, feel free to let folks know they can find further information in your product. Drop a link to the sales page and invite them to check it out. Be careful of doing this on other people’s forums or blogs, though. It could be seen as spammy or may violate comment policies.
