Welcome to Day 16 of 30 Days To Your Financial Freedom Challenge!

Homeowners or renters with land who can get permission can make money right in their backyard during any type of financial crunch or just because you want to start a new income stream. Here are several ways you can generate cash from your land that you may not have considered before.

#1 Start a Microgreen Business

Did you know that some people grow and sell 100K of microgreens right from their backyard? Growing microgreens is not as difficult as other types of gardening.

#2 Start and Sell House Plants

Believe it or not, someone has to start all those house plants that people like to own. You can do that. You can start them and then sell them locally through the marketplace or a farmer’s market.

#3 Build a Tiny Back Yard House to Rent

If you have an old shed in your backyard and live in an area people like visiting, you can turn it into a small house that is rentable on platforms like Airbnb.com.

#4 Sell Your Extra Produce at The Famer’s Market

Any extra produce you have can be sold at the market, but you can also set up a stand if it’s legal in your area, and you live near a road. Don’t forget to check with local chefs. Try posting on the Facebook Marketplace too.

#5 Breed and Sell Meat Rabbits

This is a little-known way that many homesteaders get going with their business. They are fast to maturity, and there are several ways to earn money from them.

#6 Breed and Sell Chickens, Roosters, and Eggs

This is probably something you thought about already but do not accidentally underestimate the money chickens can bring in for you.

#7 Start a Pet Sitting Business

If you have space to put kennels in your yard, you can start a pet sitting business that generates a full-time income. With boarding costing from $25 a day, you can see how the income can add up as you add on extras for your customers. Tip: If you live in a touristy area, many tourists need hourly care for their dogs.

#8 Raise Bees and Honey

You don’t need much space to raise bees and honey in your backyard. But you do need some experience and knowhow. Contact your local beekeepers’ society and get some help. A healthy hive can produce hundreds of dollars each year.

#9 Rent Out Space for Storage for Others

If you don’t want to grow things, you can instead see your land as space. You can build storage units or just rent out space as is for people to store their boats, cars, or other large items.

#10 Rent to Campers

Set up hookups on your land, and you can let a camper or two stay when they’re in the area. You can make anywhere from $20 and on up per night depending on the amenities you can offer and, of course, your location.

#11 Make Compost and Sell It

This is often a side business for those who breed chickens or rabbits. Rabbit and chicken droppings are awesome compost for homesteaders and others. You can package it up and sell it.

#12 Grow and Sell Flowers

Do you enjoy growing flowers like roses? If so, you can grow and sell flowers. You need to find someone who will take what you grow, and usually, that’s not hard; just ask your local florist.

#13 Rent Party Space

If you have a beautiful house and grounds, you can also rent out space for parties and weddings. If you can get certified, you can even perform ceremonies for people. As expensive as weddings can get, just a few per year can make a big difference.

As you see, the truth is, there are many ways to make money if you own your own land that is usable. If you have a beautiful piece of property, the only limit to what you can do with it is your own imagination, skills, and desires.
