One of the biggest mistakes that a lot of marketers make when it comes to content marketing is that they try to do it all themselves. You really can outsource content creation and distribution without breaking the bank – if you take the time to plan so that you know exactly what you want to do in advance. These tips for outsourcing content creation will help you work smarter instead of harder on your content marketing efforts.

 

#1 Set Up a Project Management System

Using a project management system like Basecamp.com or Trello.com is important to keep everything organized. In the system, you can assign the work, provide templates, and more. The contractor only needs to sign on to get their work and sign on to submit their work, making it very simple to stay organized without frequent calls.

 

#2 Define the Scope of the Work

When you decide to outsource anything, including content creation, it’s imperative that you define the scope of the work clearly. Write out what you expect for the deliverables so that it’s clear.

 

#3 Set Up the Format, Audience, Tone, and Purpose for All Content

Know in advance what you expect in terms of the content so that you can pass that information on to the contractor. This information will also help you in choosing PLR content, and updating it to make it your own.

 

#4 Evaluate All Service Providers Carefully

The internet is mostly a wonderful place, but like any large community, there are people who will take advantage. Make sure you interview and speak directly to anyone you want to hire before you work with them. Ask for references, see samples of their work, and make sure they have the experience you need.

 

#5 Don’t Focus Only on Price of the Service

When paying people for their work and expertise, don’t go for the cheapest person or the cheapest PLR. Instead, look for high quality and pay a little more because the investment will pay off.

 

#7 Before Buying PLR, Know Why

Before you purchase PLR, know what you want to use the content for once you find it. You should only look for very specific PLR for your use and not window shop and buy without thinking. Instead, know what you’ll do with it before you buy it.

 

#8 Avoid One Stop Shops

While it can seem like a relief to hire one person to do everything for you, it’s better for your business if you only outsource pieces of a project to one person. When more than one person is working on small parts, then if someone doesn’t live up to their responsibility, it isn’t as horrible as it will be if they do everything. Plus, you’ll end up with a much better product with more people involved.

 

#9 Hire the Right Person for Each Task

If you need graphic design, hire a real graphic designer, not someone who is going to use Canva, because you want to ensure that each image is legal for you to use for the purposes you’re using it.

 

#10 Give a Small Piece to Each Contractor

This was mentioned before, but it’s so important for your investment to be careful about entrusting a large part of your business deliverables on one person. Choose several contractors to do a small piece of the project.

 

#11 Hire an Expert

You can get a lot further in your business when you hire true experts who really know what they’re doing. Content writers are different from copywriters are different from editors and so forth. No one person can be an expert in everything.

To get content creation going, you can hire content writers, copywriters, ghostwriters, or you can use private label rights content. Whatever you choose to do – some of it or all of it – as long as you know your goals and who your audience is, you’ll succeed with content marketing.
