Welcome to Lesson 11 of 30 Days To Your Profitable Blog challenge! We talked about writing a book and the benefits it can bring you as a blogger in the previous lesson. Today, I’d like to expand on that concept and get into some of the nitty gritty of creating and selling books. Specifically, we’re talking about digital books better known as eBooks. Developing and publishing eBooks is easier than you might think and offers many benefits. Read on to learn more about creating and selling eBooks through your blog.

Going Digital And Why You Should

The reason to begin your blog with a book is because eBooks are books in digital format. You can read them on a computer, a phone, or an e-reader meant specifically for downloading and reading eBooks. These books can be any number of pages, though they often tend to be shorter in length than traditional books. They also usually cost less, which can make them an easier sell when you’re just starting out and establishing a name for yourself. Self-publishing eBooks is a relatively quick route to making your book available, and you have all the control. They also offer high earning potential.

How to Create Your Book

It’s really not that difficult to create an eBook. You can start out by writing it in a word processing program, then convert it to a PDF or use a publishing software. There are multiple ways to sell your ebook as well. The most basic is to create a PayPal button that links to your account to allow people to send you the cost of the eBook and email them the PDF file directly. My preferred method is to sell them directly on your blog (see my shop page). However, this is not the only options and you may need to look into services such as eJunkie or Amazon as you begin to sell more copies. They take care of payments and distribution for you.

My Tips to Making More Sales

As your blog expands and your business grows it will be very beneficial for you to start thing about new ways to get your book noticed. One benefit of using third-party services is that they can help you set up affiliate programs so that others can help promote your book for a commission. Recruiting affiliates is a great way to spread the word about your book and to send more traffic to your blog.

More Ideas

In addition, be sure to utilize your email list. Send out an announcement to your list about your new eBook. Send them updates with each newsletter. Be sure the people who already love what you have to say know about your offerings. Along with adding a link to purchase your eBook in your own relevant blog posts, you can write guest posts on others’ blogs in order to spark interest and get the word out. Share it on your social media pages. Social media ads are also useful to build some momentum.
