Build Your Brand

Brand Identity

It’s easy to get caught up in branding. It’s both fun and daunting. Your brand is what your clients, audience, and even your friends will see so its no wonder that it can be nerve wracking. As a web designer when I look at website people I am looking for consistency, good design, and more. So let me share some quick tips on how to have good branding.

Tip #1 Don’t Start With Your Logo

My first tip is that your logo should represent your brand, not the other way around. Have a logo that matches your aesthetic. It will make your design flow more easily and appeal to your audience that visits your site.

Tip #2 Create a Brand Board

If you look to your right you can see that I created a quick mockup of a brand board. With just a few images I created a clean and elegant structure for my brand. You can clearly see what my vision for the brand of bath products I am trying to sell. My audience is women who want a relaxing bath after a day of work.

Tip #3 Don’t Choose Too Many Colors

The maximum amount of colors I recommend is 4. If you refer to the inspiration board to your right again you will see that I have selected 4 colors that will represent the basic look. The dominant colors being the grey-black and the rusty peach or blush. The green will act as a transition color.

The choices are endless just be consistant.

Tip #4 Don’t Be Afraid to Write Down All Your Ideas

Write down all your ideas. The more you think about your concept the better it will translate to your website. Don’t be afraid to look inspiration and see what works for your business!
