Welcome to Lesson 12 of 30 Days To Your Profitable Blog challenge! As you’ve probably figured out from our series so far, there are several ways to make money using your blog. Monetizing your blog is something you can customize in ways that make sense based on your goals, skills, and lifestyle. One area to explore that you might not have considered is the selling of services through your blog.

This route makes particular sense for those who are already demonstrating their expertise through their written content, but anyone with a particular skill can provide that service for others. Your blog is a perfect place to do just that. Continue reading to learn more about the ways you can offer services to your target audience in order to monetize your blog.

What You Need To Know About Selling Services?

Just as selling eBooks and other products tends to be a good fit for bloggers, so does selling services. It’s the same principle. People who are reading your blog regularly already trust you and enjoy what you have to say. They’re likely more willing to pay for your expertise, through books or through your other talents. If you have a skill to offer, why not let folks know through your blog?

It can be a lucrative way to earn extra income. Don’t be afraid to start off as a side hustle with just a single service. By focusing on a specific service you can adapt it to fit the needs of your potential clients.

What Services Should You Sell?

Deciding what services to sell can be overwhelming. Start with the content of your blog for ideas. What do your readers know you for? Is there something you can do that’s relevant to your general blog content? If you write about eating healthy, perhaps you could offer menu planning services. If your blog centers around business topics, maybe writing custom business plans or proposals would be a good fit. If your blog is relatively successful, coaching others on how to create a profitable blog is an idea. Other services that are often offered by bloggers include VA work, creating Pinterest campaigns, budgeting services, career advice, and coaching. Of course, you could also offer your blogging or writing services. Social media management is also quite popular for those who are good with words and communication.

How to Set Your Rates

You could charge by the hour, by the project, or by the word, depending on the service you offer. Regardless of how you decide to charge, it’s important to set a monthly monetary goal for yourself and make sure the rate you set will help you reach that goal. If you decide to charge by the project, it’s a good idea to estimate how long it will take you to complete each one in order to be sure you’re charging a fee that’s worth your time, expertise, and effort. In addition, take care to ensure you have enough time to complete your projected number of monthly services so that you don’t find yourself overwhelmed once the orders start rolling in.

You can set up your new services and even have ideas for expanding your blog by using my Side Hustle Income Planner.
